The Origin of The Fabled Folk

Before the lanterns were lit in windows,
before diners warmed their ovens,  
before towers kept watch at the edge of the map —
there were the Folk.

In Smaller Earth, the land does not stand empty for long.
Where a path begins to form, someone walks it.
Where a garden softens the soil, someone tends it. 
Where a story needs carrying, someone steps forward. 

These someones became known as The Fabled Folk. 

They are the wanderers and the watchers. 
The bakers, builders, thinkers and keepers. 
Each belonging to a region of Smaller Earth,
each carrying a quiet purpose of their own.

Some care for the woodland paths.
Some mind the greens at dawn.
Some keep lanterns glowing when evening settles in.

They are not grand heroes.
They are steady hearts.
The kind who leave doors slightly open and chairs gently pulled out.

Within the world of The Fabled Gnome, The Fabled Folk are the living heart of Smaller Earth — its residents, its caretakers, its storytellers. 

And if you look closely, you may find one already knows exactly where they belong.
