If You Know Where to Look
Share
Have you ever noticed how a robin seems to watch you carefully while you’re working in the garden? Or wondered where those buttons went that you’d put aside for your sewing project?
I believe it’s because there is a world that most of us never notice. As adults, our lives become so hurried that we stop looking for the little wonders around us. Children, with their endless curiosity and belief in magic, often catch glimpses of this hidden place. Gardeners, artists, storytellers, and kind-hearted people who take the time to notice the world around them are the ones most likely to spot its tiny signs.
There was a time when the world felt smaller. Life moved at a gentler pace. We knew our neighbours, took walks after dinner, and found wonder in everyday moments. Smaller Earth was always there beside us, quietly living in the places we forgot to notice. It is a world where gnomes tend their gardens, celebrate the changing seasons, and remind us that joy is often found in the simplest of things.
Every gnome belongs somewhere. Some make their homes in lantern-lit forests, others travel snowy pathways, while many gather where stories are shared around a warm hearth. Whatever their calling, life is richly lived in Smaller Earth.
We often think magic should be found in mystery and spells, but in Smaller Earth, magic is something quite different. It is found in kindness freely shared, hope gently given, strong communities, heartfelt laughter, and an endless sense of curiosity. These are the things that bring true magic into our lives.
No one knows exactly how many villages exist, and there always seems to be something new waiting to be discovered—a hidden path, a forgotten cottage, or a woodland friend you’ve never met before. Even the oldest gnomes can’t always agree on the oldest stories.
So the next time you wander through a quiet garden, hear leaves rustling without a breeze, or notice a tiny door tucked beneath the roots of an old tree, pause for just a moment.
You may have wandered closer to Smaller Earth than you realise.
